Yar i think a brief write up on these topics can be really helpful 1) Russian revolution 2) temples of India(in case a general question such as stupa comes) 3) paintings of India 4) difference between planning commission and NITI aayog in terms of their PLANS since NITI aayog just launched its plan Please post if you have any write-up on these topics that can be read in 15-20 minutes if one has already some background knowledge of topic.
started with that education creates social capital and community education in form of classroom setting is very imp specially in diverse and developing societies
gave historical perspective like every great ancient civilisation has taken pride in and progressed through a community setup of education eg of greek, roman and indian civilization ;eg of, gurukul ashram, maths, monasteries, nalanda, vikramshila, cambridge ,oxford
now various dimensions of education (in each dimension emphasised on classroom education rather than just on education)
economic -> cliche stuff like employment, contribution to eco development and income generation helps in eradication poverty, hunger, malnourishment.
eg of south east asian and east asian economies which treaded the path of eco growth on roads of quality education
then classroom education results in eco growth with is harmonious with every section of society and nature and not exclusive.
then social aspects-> classroom edu results in children from all walk of life to come together and learn -> here wrote how it can reduce caste prejudices, gender prejudices (also wrote a separate para on how women not only herself gain knowledge and get empowered the students(male one) from early life learn to respect them which in turn augment the empowerment-> then that result in low mmr, imr, women sensitive laws and policies etc)
social reforms which are thrusted from top can be effectively achieved through a bottom up approach in classroom community learning
then political aspects of classroom education -> education enable one to not only directly participate in politics but it also strengthen democracy by enabling people to ask right questions and thus making govt to work accordingly
then here the usefulness of classroom education -> it inculcate empathy and compassion so the political development of country also remain inclusive.
then wrote that at independence we cherished ideals like social justice, liberty ,equality and fraternity and our forefathers envisaged education as an imp tool and thats why kept it in DPSP AND Later it got added in FD and then in FR
70 years since-> current situation , RTE ,Article 21A , high primary enrolments etc
then shortcomings-> ASER report, some stats, teacher absenteeism, lack of moral edu etc, misuse of section 12(1)(c) of RTE Act shows the antipathy of upper class towards lower and they resent the noble idea of students from diffrnt classes studying together.
then conclusion -> an exclusive education devoid of morality and ethics will produce clever devils (:P UPSC had asked this essay in 2015) then the concept of "good life" envisaged during enlightenment was the concept of communitarian good life having fine balance with community rights, individual rights and duties and that can be fulfilled by imparting value education in a classroom setting
But it was not about India only, it was more of general.
In the essay "social media is inherently selfish" if someone has covered multiple dimensions exposing selfish nature of social media with lots of real life examples and concluded optimistically with suggestions.. But has hardly dealt with the positive side.. No positive example whatsoever.. How much can he expect. Will 55 be an over expectation?
Na bhai not an issue , if u have dealt it properly and justified ur stance than u will def get above average , I have written a perspective that I doubt anyone would have written , but still I don't see as an issue to be worried
I knew I should deal with both the aspects before taking a stand. Somehow it didn't materialize. Went deeper and deeper in negative "selfish aspect" , before concluding saying that there are two sides of every technology.. (Without giving any positives like it's role in social campaigns, disaster relief, Arab Spring, art promotion.. Not even a single such example).. And finally suggested measures to tackle the negative side to make social media truly revolutionary..blah blah
Hope what you are saying is correct!
It wont matter much , trust me , everyone will have their own perspectives in these questions , in essay upsc is pretty liberal as long as u have not misinterpreted the question completely (which generally doesn't happen much) , hence rest assured about ur marks , now I think we need to move on from essay exam and March towards gs 1-4 and optional
a positive person spotted. Dude, what is the average marks one can get, i mean i have attempted farming and social media. Wrote through maximum dimensions. Was feeling ok at the time of submission but still not sure how it went. First mains.
See what happens is we tend to overanalyse things , i know few will score very low some will be scoring moderately and some above avg , but as someone has already said if u have written relevant than ur bound to get avg and above avg and with good conclusion and intro one is def going to get above avg(though what is good and what is bad will be decided by the examiner but , what i know they mostly check the relevance and the flow hence if it is there one will get marks)
What i can tell u is if one hasn't written too short of an essay or has written something which was not asked in the essay(eg- in new women question writing on what feminism has said instead of writing multiple aspects of women identity and whether women are actually empowered or its just few stories which are glorified) , than one is not gonna get less than 110 (as per last year) (that i can guarantee) , now if one has used too many complicated words to show off , which might actually create headache than one might loos few marks hence get stuck in between 110-120 but , if u haven't done all of these , in both of ur essays than trust me u will get atleast 130+ , not less than that , that i can assure u ( well all these things are based on my exp of upsc , which i feel is correct)
From what u have told me , even though u haven't wrote ur essay here , but i can still tell u if u haven't done all the things that i i have mentioned above and written from various perspectives than trust me u will get a bare minimum of 135 (if checking pattern remains the same )
Rest its ok to feel all the anxiety , see im giving my 3rd mains but still after visiting forum i did feel bit anxious thinking of deviating a bit , but these are all part and parcel of the exam , u tend to think we have done poorly, but in the end i would say have faith on what u have written, u did ur best npw to move on to the next level
Bhai jo soch rha h ki acha hua uske kam ayenge n jo soch rha h ki avg/bekaar n generic hua uske acche ayenge...dis is upsc...koi bHi essay ke no. predict karne wala paida nhi hua...vo to no. Aane ke baad log justify kar dete h ki i expected dis much only...hahaha...thumb rule..jo jyada uchhalata h iske utne hi kam aate h
Bro I clothed it by establishing a analogy with Einstein conceputlization for any phenomenon /event /happening by giving three attributes..known , unknown and knownable .. After ww2 afro Asian countries struggling to balance between remaining sovereign and at the time same time not being isolated ....etcetc... So intially unknownable..then..as a brain child of nehru...a way to remain engaged without being dragged in to any camp... NAM came...and known to the world... Then I continued on this theme.. Mentioned passive v. Neutral v. Non aligned.. 60s ,70s preferences.. 4D decolonization, development, disentanglement, disarmament.. 2D are still not full filled...world is bipolar still if not in country specific but issue specific... Region specific.. priorities specific.. WTO, CC,global issues... weakening of UN.. Crimean annexation Russia asserting that she still global power..China etc.. Etcetc.... etc.... So now ,NAM is entering in to third attribute of being knownable..issues are emerging ...and reinforcing and demanding strengthening of third world for greater humanaitrain causes... Etcetc... So relevant...ideology and basic premise is same....only facets changing....etcetc...
and after all that i finished with a thucidydes quote..( i did not write einstein though)....."strong do what they can and weak should do what they must. i added disadrament terrorism, envt , small island, moral leadership, global governance. first time mains.
bro, maine pm modi not going to venezuela nam summit se start kiya phir origin of nam show kiya in bipolar world brics, wto, world bank se compare kiya ki kaise ye sabhi non-democratic organisations aur nam democratic hain nam ka relevance ko leke terrorism, climate change, social justice like racism etc india, china challenging western clout new complex issues emerging so nam should be proactive to stay relevant not work on ad-hoc basis, proper secretariat should be there.

De-colonisation of Latin America: Role of Simon Bolivar and San Martin
Source?
I used wiki.
San Martin was an Argentine soldier, statesman, and national hero who helped lead the revolutions against Spanish rule in Argentina (1812), Chile (1818), and Peru (1821).
Martin led from South. Liberated Argentina, Chile and Peru
Bolivar in North.. Brazil
Simon Bolivar: was a South American soldier who was instrumental in the continent's revolutions against the Spanish empire. Born into wealth, Bolivar was sent to Spain for his education, soon deciding to immerse himself in the political sphere in Europe. After France invaded Spain in 1808, he became involved in the resistance movement and played a key role in the Spanish American fight for independence. In 1825, the "Republic of Bolivia" was created in honor of the inspirational leader, hailed by many as El Libertador (The Liberator). He died on December 17, 1830 in Colombia.
