Best Tablet for office going civil service aspirant

edited April 2013 in Tools & Technology
I want ideas regarding which tablet to buy, if i want to continue my studies during free time in my office.
It should be fast, responsive, easy internet connectivity should be there, good screen or any other feature that might play a crucial role for reading pdfs, docs & browsing net.

  • @alexiaaicha Do u use this tab?
  • I don't use this. But it is better than the iPad for sure.
I have used the note 2 phone.
Heard good reviews about it therefore I suggested it to you.
  • I have Note1..quite handy, as in you don't need to carry it separately..plus it's stylus makes lot of difference..you can take screenshots, edit them, make notes, play games..all in one go..has been my best investment so far, after spectrum history i guess..:D
  • @alexiaaicha @breakingbad Thank you for your opinions :)
  • I use a Galaxy Tab 10.1. Infact, I've been using it for over a year and half, and it's only for my Civils prep. I don't get on tech sites and write about iPad vs Galaxy, but because you ask which one's more handy for the Prep, go for a Galaxy Tab. The iPad must surely be good, but the ease with which you can connect your Tab to a Windows laptop and transfer files or connect it via bluetooth to share pdfs, makes it a better choice.

I head a school in a rural town and I used to travel every weekend to attend coaching classes last year. The Tab came handy all the time. I would read the NCERT pdfs, read summaries of INM, follow gktoday, pib, forumias and other websites for Current Affairs. There's an Android app for Indian Constitution as well!

A fellow member suggested a Note and with a Stylus. Maybe it would be better because you can underline or highlight stuff and if possible write notes too! I can't speak about it because I haven't had experience with it.

In any case, if you can invest, go for a tablet/note like gadget. It will be of immense help. It's not a substitute for book reading, but if you happen to be on the go, you can be sure you've a hold of some reading material all the time (as long as the battery is on!)
  • Most importantly, iPad has no Flash Player support, and you might have a huge problem streaming videos. Sometimes after a hard days work you might want to unwind to a show of Big Bang Theory, you can't do so on the iPad. That should be a reason enough. :-D

    Lol :-)

  • @Oceanus - my friend is purchasing Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 in a few days. If you can wait a week I can give you a hands on review about it, from the point of view of a civil services aspirant.
