113 p1 119 p2 Missed cut off by 8 marks... Screwed up my paper 1. I missed a 15 marker. Attempted one 15 marker which was completely wrong and one partially correct 20 marker.. Paper 2 was good.
My appeal to all candidates, don't count on your final marks because they have been arrived to after scaling our marks down. It's only a game is relative success. You need to be at the top in your subject when compared to others.
@Aditya_S : Your marks in Philosophy are good. For the benefit of members, can you please answer following questions. Your input will definitely help to build a strategy for next year exam.
Q1) Marks Obtained versus Correct Attempt in Paper-1 and Paper-2 in CSM-15?
Q2) What was your medium of Mains Examination in CSM-15?
Q3) In CSM-15, which questions you selected from Paper-1. Indian Philosophy or Western Philosophy? If possible please give the question number.
Q4) In CSM-15, which questions you selected from Paper-2 ? Please provide question number.
Q5) In CSM-15, did you solely rely on Patanjali/Mitra/coaching notes OR added significant (>10 percent) content from reference Books also. If yes, then in which topic/questions/sections ?
Q6) In CSM-15, did you write your own view points in Paper 1? If yes, then in which topics/questions/sections. For eg: In Buddhism, if we write - "Though Buddhist is scientific philosophy but for practical level, change is not noticable and irrelevant many times". This is our view point and not Buddha's.
Q7) In CSM-15, did you write your own view points in Paper 2? If yes, then in which topics/questions/sections.
Q8) Please provide the list of reference material Used. Indian Philosophy: Western Philosophy (Plato to Hegel) Contemporary Western Philosophy Socio-Political Philosophy Philosophy of Religion
I used patanjali class notes along with dutt and chatterhjee for Indian philosophy. For Western, y masiah for reference purpose and patanjali notes, along with some material which I received from a member of forum. For sociopol, ignou notes, a book (can't recall the name but has a blue white cover with a mic, this book shall be used only to fill gaps and for reference purpose).
For religious honestly I used only patanjali notes and a lot of brainstorming.
bhai anything about test series or answer writing ?
Sad part is that I did not attended any test series, just practised random questions and that has affected my outcome. I suggest vision IAS test series.
@Aditya_S : I am planning to join Vision test series for Philosophy but I really doubt their evaluation. I have heard that students check the papers.

89 in paper 1- left 110 marks unattempted- attempted only compusory questions from western and all in indian 86 in paper 2- attempted all - 3 from religion
Guys, if you are trying to find out that whether attempting one part of the question paper or the other has any correlation with the final marks, then, in my humble opinion, your efforts will be in vain.
Though this was my first attempt with philosophy, I had studied philo previously plus had been living with people who are seasoned players in philosophy. The general conclusion is that it doesn't matter much what part one attempts. Go for the questions, as per the paper, in which you feel the most prepared. Any prejudice carried into the exam hall might lead to one attempting the question in which he or she is sub par. A very important point is to understand the given question fully and attempt all the parts of the question. For eg if its asked to comment on the concept of God in Vedanta, then one must write on advaita and dvaita both. Usually people forget to write about Madhava in such question, given the exam hall pressure.
However there is a catch in paper - 2. Usually socio political philosophy is highly subjective and its very easy to give your personal opinions in an answer in a language which is inappropriate for a philosophy answer sheet. For eg Women empowerment, corruption, etc - its very easy to give a vague and a generalist answer to these kinds of question. So its usually recommended to go for 2 questions from phil of religion. But then again, if one is sure about political philosophy then it doesn't matter much.
