UPSC Date of birth from 1st August to 1st January

Dear friends,
In UPSC civil services examination, it consider 1st August for age criteria, because of this many candidate could not get benefit of maximum age. In view of that i have sent mail to Minister of DOPT for change DOB from 1st August to 1st January. Same mail will forward to UPSC chairman. Copy is mentioned below. All are requested to demand in change of the age criteria through email, twitter, and FB so that one extra attempt can be availed.

Minister : mos-pp@nic.in Secretary : bhanusharma@nic.in

Honorable Minister sir,

I am civil service aspirant and preparing for it, Respected sir, please give attention on issue of age criteria in UPSC Civil services examination. At present age criteria is considered from the 1st August of every year and due to this practice by UPSC, those candidate who are at age of qualifying criteria at the time of examination notification (Generally comes in April) could not fill the application form. Even those who born on 31st July are disqualified due to attainment of age. Natural justice says that it should be calculated from 1st January.

UPSC has changed the age criteria of "Engineering services" from 2012-13 from 1st August to 1st January. For making uniformity in age selection criteria other examination boards are also changing age criteria.

It is my humble request to you please look up the matter and do needful for the change of age criteria of UPSC civil services examination from 1st August to 1st January, so that thousand to lac of candidate will get benefit from this unusual practice of every year.

Your's faithfully

hi plz give details or link of circular, is there any chance in 2107 exam the date be 1st jan?(as exam is sceduled on 8th june)

  • I have seen that circular...rule says that if exam conduct in first half of year and mains conduct in second half then date should be 1st August...really unjustified..it is rule of 1988..through order it is available in DOPT website...
  • nice attempt ..more people to should join this
  • i will do what ever i can do this make this happen. This action need more limelight
  • Pls circulate and publicise it as widely as u can, like the obc guys did/are doing for their issue. If this happens in our favour then many will get one more attempt irrespective of their categories. this should get all round support...lobby support do everything.. inviting others @DrKingSchultz @focus @Burger brothers please invite others too...

    Please refer this circular...

Everyone who is preparing for civil services can not get benefit if they born before 1 Aug.. it means 7 months of max age (say 32) are absolutely vanished due to this rule...

It means they have cut down 58% candidate of that year who is at age of 32.

Please spread this message so that every one will get benefit from it in their last attempt...
  • this makes lot of sense... 1st Aug is just a random date.... 1st Jan would be something universal and nobody should have objection on that date...

however, next year prelim will happen in June.... looks like they want to move the calender as they r planning budger in Jan as well.. so if that is the intention 2018 prelim will be in april/ may ... in that way 2018 inwards it should be 1st Jan only....

    good initiative
