While reading
this article I came across this line -
"Such calls for creation of newer States on the basis of various identities has
serious consequences not only for the federal content and structure of the Constitution, but also in unleashing potentially disruptive tensions in the country. "
I could not comprehend this statement. Can anyone shed light on it? All I can think is it will spur demands for new states but how it will impact constitution and federal structure is beyond me.
TIA

Federal structure implies that centre & states have powers divided between them unlike a unitary structure where centre is all powerfull.
One arguement that i can think of is :
Creation of a small state would allow govt to exact more power on it in terms of finance resources & budget outlays but telangana is going to be 4th largest state of india so this arguement doesnt hold.
In this case also the powers are going to be divided further between centre & telangana so how does it hamper the federal structure of our country ?
