After failing this year prelims(It was my first attempt and was getting around 102 marks), I have started filling many recruitment forms. People around me also give every damn exam and influenced by them I also started applying for various exams. But, I fear I am going nowhere. How people manage to give many exams with full effort, please suggest. Or should I focus only on civil services. My age is 24.
I think state public service can be done simultaneously with UPSC, because syllabus is overlapping for most of the cases.but other exam like IBPS,SBI,SSC CGL needs other type of preparation extensively..so these would be difficult to prepare along with UPSC...so set ur priority first friend and assess ur strength and weakness den decide which exam to prepare for..

102 is not bad that means you have caliber but kind of lose canon that needs direction and refinement Your age is 24 You can take either of 2 routes 1. Focus only on psc and ssc then take up these jobs and then focus on UPSC 2. focus on civil services for next 2 years then execute the back up
I don't know about option 1 but option 2 that I am executing could be filled with frustration if you are unable to good cse services Now after messing up I have started looking for option 1 But advantages of option 2 u will clear cse cut offs and have good preparation level for mains since you are not diverted but insecurity could be a problem
Bhai job le lo. Do optional and current affairs alongside. Jab tak joining aayega tab tak prepare properly for UPSC aur de do wo attempt. Achha rahega. Even in the job, you will have enough time provided you adapt. Or else in SSC etc, you can always delay joining by a few months citing medical etc.
Do not fill every form but please fill some other forms for the sake of avoiding demotivation and frustation if things do not go according to you. Apart from state pcs, choices of filling forms could depend upon your strengths and comfort level.With decent maths and eng, banking exams could be cracked with 7-8 days intense prep.I prepared for 5 days for pre and 7 days for mains for IBPS(waiting for results). SSC and SBI require little more prep and practice. Stay focussed with cse but there is no harm in appearing in other exams as well so that you are not under extreme pressure to crack UPSC. Jab ek challenging task le liya hai then let other tasks come from your comfort zone so that successes and failures(if any ) could be balanced. At the end of the day,everyone wants to get settled first.
Any exam preparation can be broken down to the following fundamental principles:
- Identify your strengths and weaknesses
- Hold on to your strengths and work on your weaknesses
In 2015 I had attempted SSC CGL and UPSC CSE for the first time. I couldn't clear the UPSC prelims because of blunders made during and before the exam. I did not prepare specifically for CGL that year and even had little idea about the exam pattern that time.
Even then, I managed to score a respectable 127ish in Tier 1 and had a good chance. I looked up the previous year's Tier 2 questions. English looked like a cakewalk and Maths looked doable. I neglected practicing.
Eventually I managed only 120 in Tier 2 Maths paper and lost out by 30–40 marks. I identified my Strength:GS, Reasoning, English; Weakness: Speed and Tricks in Maths.
Next year, I was technically ineligible for CGL until the notification was released which moved cut-off date for age calculation from 1 Aug to 1 Jan. I was in just by 8 days!
The exam was made online with additional time. One night before Tier 1 I just looked up the solved previous years Reasoning questions which are oft-repeated. This helped me a lot as some of the answers were in my memory, even though I hadn't understood why those answered were correct. I got 180.5/200 which was 49th highest score in Tier 1 that year.
I understood I had a huge chance. I also knew that all I needed to do was to push my score in Maths paper from 120 to 150, which was doable. I took generous help from YouTube, particularly We Focus Classes and Online Guruji channels to learn the tricks. You can imagine that I had very little distance to cover compared to many other CGL aspirants. This was why I could do it along with UPSC prep.
The only problem that this balancing act created was due to the exam schedule. Since I had written Tier 1 from Varanasi, I had to go there to write Tier 2. The date of exam was 30th November while UPSC Mains was scheduled to begin on 3rd December.
I had no option but to go and secure a job at any cost. Those were the days when dense fogs caused long delays. After writing the Tier 2, I got into a train back to Delhi, which was scheduled to reach in the morning of 1st December. As the fog would have it, it reached in the afternoon of 2nd December!
In any case, I think staying calm during oddities is also my strength and it helped. The next day I wrote Essay Paper of UPSC and scored 164.
With 500.25 overall marks after Tier 2, I was assured of a sarkari naukri. Moreover, I had managed to get exactly 150 in the Maths paper.
Hey I want to prepare for SSC CGL 2018 along with CSE 2019.
Can you give me links for these online guruji classes? Any other recommendations? How many hours should I put in each day? (I am pretty weak in all the sections of SSC CGL except the English portion and upsc 2019 would be my first attempt so technically I am a noobie in terms of both SSC CGL prep and CSE prep)
