Study group in ORN

edited March 2014 in Miscellaneous
Hi everybody,
I wrote mains this time but as luck would have it, I could not clear it. I am moving to Delhi -ORN for Mains test series so that i can have as much of writing practice as possible till the beginning of June. Also I would be improving on my weak areas and revising the mains syllabus so that it is done and dusted by June.
If there are any like minded people who have been thinking of following the same strategy , we can form a study group. The agenda would be to discuss the topics mentioned in Mains syllabus, evaluation of answers, notes sharing , sharing of test questions.
The group can meet twice a week as per the time feasible for all the members and we can take up the prep from there. We can also decide on the maximum members in the group. So if any serious candidates putting up in ORN are willing ,kindly reply in the thread.

P.S:- Although the group is open to all but it would be of more benefit to those aspirants who appeared for CSM 2013 as this is a kind of improvement group, those who did not appear for CSM 2013 might not have completed the mains syllabus by now.

  • I m interested.Currently I am staying in noida but will be shifting to orn soon. This was my 2nd attempt and also 2nd mains.Still trying to figure out the lapses in preparation.
I think study group is a great idea,it can help us to figure out our weakness n further improve upon them.

Great then, when are you planning to shift to ORN? Also, yes it seems like a good idea because twice a week finding a couple of hours is not a big deal especially if it helps and makes us interact with like minded people.

    You are invited :)
  • @andy133 ... I reside near Pandara road..5km from ORN
I he already joined Vision IAS test series for Pub Ad
I also enquired about test series at synergy...they plan to start it after prelims

Hi, I will be joining VisionIAS too for both GS and Pub Ad. at the ORN centre. Let us catch up. Also, is there too much of a rush in these test series?

@andy133 ... I joined it before the mains result since pub ad was my Achilles heel last time. So can't say abt the rush now.

In my opinion, The "flexibility" thing of vision ias is a little problematic for GS. Even at the test centre u won't find exam like conditions eg time pressure.
In pub ad jargon, they hold Theory Y assumptions of human behaviour and expect self control/discipline from u. :D
That's why I m looking for any other test series for GS where tests are time bound and recreate exam like conditions

True, but then i always feel that test series can never replicate real exam like conditions. Also my motive is to finish my test paper in the allotted time of 3hrs ,try to write better answers than what i wrote in mains and get a professional feedback. As long as these 3 things are in place , I don't mind missing a packed hall full of students.
Also, when you say no time pressure what does it mean? You can write test in the classroom for as long as you want?
  • Moreover, I don't think there is any other Mains test series going on apart from Vision which can be utilized right now. Or is thee?.Since I want to get done and dusted with my Mains syllabus by June, a test series that starts after prelims will be of little use to me.
  • By exam like conditions and time pressure etc I meant all the people start the test at the same time and paper ends within dot 3hrs. Presently people keep coming/going in between which creates distraction (for me).
You can even write the test for 5 hrs and submit it there. no invigilator is there to collect it.

Abt the 2nd part u r right. It seems presently there is no other option
