[Industry] Exclusively reserved for Public Sector

edited July 2014 in Miscellaneous
I have read following three contradictory statements regarding Industries exclusively reserved for Public Sector -

1. Ramesh Singh says(page 9.9, 5th edition): only 3 such industries viz Nuclear energy, Nuclear research & related, Railways
2. http://www.dcmsme.gov.in/publications/reserveditems/reservitems.html#SchI: lists 6 such industries.
3. Economic survey says: Allow private sector in coal mining (it means currently pvt sector not allowed)

Statement 3 contradicts ramesh Singh.

Please throw some light on the same.

Only three- atomic energy and research, space and space research and core railways.

Captive mining is allowed but needs licenses. Large-scale mining is not allowed by the private sector.

But Space is nowhere quoted under reserved category. Can you please provide reference ?

Also, large scale mining for all minerals or selected few ?

I think aerospace equipment and manufacturing as been deregulated then.

Mining of coal. I was talking about coal mining.
Bauxite mining is done by the private sector also. A few other minerals and ores as well.
