  • in with Philosophy !

    First attempt with Philosophy
    Mitra Sir's classes :
    - attended his coaching and test series
    - read only his notes and kept it simple as was advised by him
    - personal attention by Sir helped a lot especially in keeping focus on the syllabus and structuring answers
    - his advice in essay and ethics was very helpful
    - best thing is he allowed me to develop my own style of answers which might have played a big role

but yes for enrichment and value addition, Mitra sir is very good and his personal attention is the biggest plus point.

Is mitra good for philo? Can v join his test series n expect some improvement..
  • in ... 1st attempt with philosophy ....read patanjali notes ... net for contemporary .... philosophy selection rate has always been lower .... the golden optional is a myth .... philosophy paper didn't go well .. may have qualified due to gs and essay only ... won't recommend philosophy optional to 1st attempters but won't advice anyone to migrate from philosophy either
I also read patanjali notes then y did i not clear n u did,..my gs also went gud...though essay was not that satisfactory

bhai do contact him if you want his test series..I called his manager as I am in their library.. they will start something only when many people contact them for that..they are presently focussing on strting their new batch..only if some people contact them for that, it will make a difference. There is also another view that test series can be done after pre..thats a brilliant idea but what to do in meantime for philo then..atleast some evaluation keeps going on in that case and also when we see paper is getting tougher every year!
  • @ysoserious .... I did take coaching For this and consistently scored 110 plus out of 250 in all the tests. I am not trying to advertise .... Sorry if it so appears. What I want to ask is... In my case, should I let go of this optional?? I am personally not sure about my essay or GS paper 2.

If I wait for marks, it might be too late. If I change to a possibly more consistent optional like physics, would I be able to give serious attempt this December?? Or should I continue with Philosophy and try to improve gs and essay??
coaching test series- do you find their standard on par with civils? well the only two famous faculty for philo are both lacking sufficient skills in contemporary and socio political... and their testing skills will not be at large better than their knowledge about the subject...
getting good marks in pub ad at famous coaching centres also do not reflect the same in the final exams...
so making test series marks as a benchmark might not be a good idea...

letting go the optional and gs papers uncertainty - - if you think getting good marks in philo consistently every year is a possibility then you can keep it, but the experience of some don't seem to be so(please check last year marks thread)... especially with the second paper...

physics as alternative - - I donno, check for its consistency with your seniors...

philosophy was a good option when there were two optionals... it takes less time to cover for some 'average' marks, the other optional giving you the necessary edge to crack the final...
but making philosophy as your driving force ... perhaps a very bad proposition.
there were always some exceptions but exceptions don't make norms...
