@docrock Oh!! You prepared very quickly!! Btw, are notes necessary? can't we prepare only from books? Same question goes the other way. Can we prepare the subject using notes only? Also, can i directly begin with nath?
Yes u can begin with nath.. be selective .. read only those topics given in syllabus..coaching notes are systematic, topic wise. Books are too wide and there are no books available for anthro on upsc pattern
friends, please tell me which coaching material is good for Anthropology. and from where in Delhi can I get it by post?? Any contact number of some xerox shop or coaching institute?
I was a student of Vaid's ; let me elaborate how he teaches
Day 1 ==> Asks you to submit full fees (43,000) at once and if you dont then dont come to his class from next day on wards.
Day 2 ==> He will say the same age old s**t that why you should take Anthro, whats good about it, he'll claim that he knows all the paper setters and paper checkers of UPSC just to lure you in.
Day 3 to Day 7 ==> He will dictate some questions on socio-cultural Anthro and give their answers in class almost 100% from his own book.
Now the real deal starts after 8 or 10 days you join his class because by this time almost everyone as paid him fees and don't have any other option except to continue (bear) with him.
So from now on his laziness will start taking over him and Day 8 to Day 30 will have approx. 7 holidays (except the usual saturday & sunday holidays), and in the remaining classes also which are supposed to be of 2 hours duration will get over by 1.5 hour maximum (and in that 1.5 hours too 45 mins. will be bakar not related to Anthro at all)
Day 31 to day 60 ==> Classes will become more rare to come by (almost 50% will be cancelled by him ), if you will ask any doubt he will not answer correctly or will just say "I dont want you to be Anthropologist I just want you to pass this exam". He will give printed notes that too copy paste from various books and will ask you to read all those by yourself ( & look you have paid 43,000 for this ). He will not even touch 40% of the syllabus and I you will ask him then he will plainly say that "Question will not come from these sections".
Day 61 ==> Voila!!! your classes are over [and please go home and prepare yourself thanks for giving me my precious (money)]
To summarize: All he is doing is, taking advantage of his fame and our state of helplessness Total fees taken ==> 43,000 Total time taken ==> 60 days (with 30-35 days off) Syllabus completed ==> 40% approx. Value for money ==> Value of xeroxed notes : Rs 100, value for his 30 days teachings ( teaching :P ) : Rs. 5,000 His total unethical profit = 43,000 - 5,000 - 100 = 37,900 Your Time, money and energy ==> Totally wasted.
PS: His test series is free, but then you can just join any other test series and save your money and time.
I got to know about vijay singh (patna) teaching anthropology in old rajinder nagar through the hindu advertisement. Do anybody know about his teaching. .any review. Do suggest.
