What are the must read books for Indian geography - Prelims?

edited March 2013 in Miscellaneous
Can anyone tell me what all books I should've read for geo? Especially the Indian geography part.

Comments

  • For Indian Geo part NCERT std 11 & 12 books are best read them as much times as you can...
  • Are they alone enough?
  • they cover all the topics and will be sufficient for prelims but if you want to go an extra mile then you can go for D R Khullar's Geography of India.
  • Thank-you! :)
  • Are they alone enough?
To clear Prelims, yes they are enough. You may also need to solve previous years question papers and study those topics which have been repeatedly asked in the past like:-
    1. IUCN
    2. Ramsar Convention
    3. National Parks
    etc.

I had studied a bit from Wizard Geography (a terrible book to read, but it has mots of the information), and so for me, the line between geography and Environment was a lot blurred.
  • Guys , The notification says , that general issues on environment ecology, biodiversity and climate change r to be studied,
We are not supposed to study the subject at the level of graduation... Lots of people don't understand the subtlety of words that they read just anything.

Focus on general issues rather than specific things...

have a look around this page. covers most of general environmental issues. just take a read.
