I am confused now, like do I have to mention the advt no. etc? If mentioning month and year only would suffice, then which month do I mention? of prelims or mains? :-??
just mention the month and year, that will do. last year: may 2012 on a general note, not to worry much. upsc won't reject the application form under most of the circumstances(except for some serious mistakes)

i dont understand either...they have already asked about previous attempt in the column above this one....then why another ?
the previous attempt question is pertaining to civil service examination. but the next question is regarding any exams conducted by upsc like IFS etc including civil service. hope its clear
For the question: Whether you have been selected or applied for U.P.S.C Examinations/Recruitments (including the Civil Services Examination) :
Now here they have conveniently left the tag "pre" exam here. In my case, do I need to fill the details of 2012 attempt (where I couldn't clear pre) and 2013 attempt details too? So this would mean 2 entries with Civil Services Prelim 2012 exam details and then Civil Services Prelim 2013 exam details.
Please do reply. I am going bonkers over this.....
you have to just say yes and fill the details of 2012 attempt(may 2012) also add the details of any other upsc exams that you have applied for.(if applicable)
I have trouble understanding the part related to the payment of fees through central recruitment stamp. It is written in the instructions that "The stamps may be got cancelled from the issuing post office with the date stamp of the post office in such a manner that the impression of the cancellation mark partially overflows on the application form itself. The impression of the cancellation mark should be clear and distinct to facilitate the identification or post office of issue."
1. Is this procedure necessary even if you send by courier?? 2. What is the purpose of this date identification??
Anyone from 2006 (class 10 CBSE) and 2008 (class 12 CBSE).... What is this CLASS/DIVISION/GRADE ? I can't find any such thing on either the marks sheet or the passing certificate. URGENT help needed

I'm sorry , why do you want to research on unwanted things during your Mains Exam preparation .
However , for your question . Sending via courier doesnt matter here , but the application should bear CRF stamp with cancellation from respective Post Office [Why do you want to go for courier , speed post exist as an option ]. If UPSC says that they need to identify P.O and Date issued , then do it .
Please study for mains . There are plenty who dont get opportunity even to appear for Mains.

you could probably do two things 1.say not applicable or 2.depending on your marks say first class, second class etc...(follow the normal pattern of such classification) not a big deal, i entered as first(94%) and my friend entered not applicable last time.
Actually I am availing company's accomodation. Thus I am not getting any HRA. So should I include the value of HRA into the gross salary? Also as the gross salary fluctuates almost every month due to some reason or the other, should I write gross salary as some approximate value or average of last 6 months or a year' salary ? Also in the 'educational details' section do I need to mention all the subjects studied in the graduation or only the stream name such as Mechanical engineering will suffice..?
