@vortex.. If u can then answer me. And guide me Also...wrt blue haralombus

    TIA :)
  • @sneha_24

Haralambos blue one is better. Its a longer book (1000 pages approx.)
It however covers only paper 1 but not fully. You will need to go through IGNOU notes as well.

Read the blue one, it will give you a decent grip on the subject and also make you understand IGNOU notes as well.

Further, NCERTs are also very crucial for covering the syllabus fully.
  • Thankuuu so much @vortex....

Though I hv orange one +shankar rao and my class notes but as mentioned above abt contemporary case studies... I thought it will be helpful... Btw which edition hv to buy??
  • Buy the latest one. It will be the most updated.
  • Ohkky.. Thanks :)
  • No problem. Welcome :)
  • HOW TO DEAL WITH SUBJECTIVITY IN SOCIOLOGY ANSWERS?

    Hi guys,

I've written an attempt with sociology as optional, and spent more than a year with the optional.

I've noticed that there's subjectivity in most parts of the syllabus. E.g. "To what extent is Marx's theory of historical materialism relevant in understanding modern society?" In this, whatever I write, I feel I'm not sure whether I'm going it the right direction.

Compare it with largely factual disciplines like geography, or science subjects. There you would know whether your answer was right or wrong.

How to deal with this subjectivity in sociology? Would writing more tests help? Or should I change to geography optional? Actually I'm an engineer, and that's why I didn't have much exposure to humanities.

    Thanks a lot.
    :)
