No idea about Chemistry.. I said "avoid" geology, not leave. If you are determined enough to invest lots of time to understand the concepts and read multiple books (than these fucked up compilations like Bhangar) you can definitely do Geology. Decision is yours! With different optional in civils and pressure of high cutoff in IFoS prelims, you will definitely be stretched.

Why are you worried then? Your combo is very typical. There are quite a few toppers with that combo. Search around, I remember some IFS topper shared their geo notes.

Thanks. Geology is a new domain and a selected friend advised me to to put good time into it. I was wondering if I need to give time then why not take science as I at least know those subjects. Just confused.

Hmm you are right, pretty much why I was waffling between forestry and Ag, I have basic knowledge about both. What helped me was going over a few previous years questions and seeing if I can make sense of the questions. As it is, they will be setting the optional papers at UG level, might as well give time and decent enough emphasis to both.
@sylvian_10 Han, I am much more comfortable with Maths than geology. Just that I am not sure if 4 months of serious prep of maths wud give same or better results than geology.

hmm Maths is doable, But you need crazy practice to score decent marks.

I read the manikandan book over a week in december, mind, read as in a casual glance. According to previous toppers, apparently 12-15 days is good enough. But IDK, I'm in the same boat as you, civil + whatever will always be a headache.

Yes it will be. Thats why I was thinking to read the other optional only after cse mains. Need to do civil really well before prelims this time.
