Hard work is quintessential to achieve success. I am not contesting that horoscope is meaningless, but knowing things before hand can distort efforts - both positively and negatively. So instead of getting into trivial questions better to work hard and leave rest to God. I don't know about horoscopes of toppers but one thing is common to maximum- hard work and perseverance which is reflected in their notes . How many of us have made elaborate notes like GA or Nitin Sanghwan and other toppers. Some share some dont but they put in a lot of effort- more than the average junta . Except few , none in academy showed their horoscope to anyone. Astrologers even predicted for some that they dont have any govt job yog .they are ias now. However irony is that there are many who work hard and couldn't make it. This signifies luck/kundali/prarabdh/ karma / destiny etc etc.
So whats the solution- As far as i think its Niskhaam karma One truth is that nothing can be achieved without shedding sweat (not talking of exceptions and happy go lucky type guys ). So its better to study smartly , diligently and with 3Ds - duty devotion and discipline
I will share my experience. In my first attempt, i put in load of hard work and did everything required. But a month before mains a very reputed astrologer said that I cannot qualify civils. This shattered me and my confidence level was dropped .I was mentally stressed and was not able to study properly. Mains went well but could have been much better if i had studied the last month with vigor and confidence. In final list i got rank under 200. Next time many astrologers predicted that i would definitely get IAS. My confidence level was sky high and I subconsciously neglected studies. Got rank in 400s. After that didn't even qualify prelims. This year again i have written mains but forbid myself to consult any astrologer. I seldom visit forum and never login. But couldn't resist myself to make account and give all this 'gyan'. as i dont want anyone to suffer the same thing which i went through . So guys please don't indulge into this . Just do what is required. Introspect yourself . Rectify mistakes and prepare with full throttle. Astrology's predictions may be true but nothing can beat honest hard work . ATB
Great. May u get IAS this time. U are proving astrologers wrong in every attempt.
Umm, I think you should listen to the astrologer only if he is aware of all the specifics of the exam - the pattern, the duration, the luck factor, the type of questions asked, subjectivity in evaluation etc etc. Personally my kundli said I would die before I turned 18 (and some palm expert said the same on the basis of some break in my life line), so I only ever visit astrologers with the intention of belittling them by bombarding them with questions I know they won't have answers to. I'm not saying that's it's all horse shit. My granddad was an IRS and he did attempt to study horoscopes, but he was wise enough to know the limitations. Most astrologers don't really know the art properly these days; that knowledge has been lost in transition.
One of the fundamental duties as written in the constitution is to develop scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform.. Please incorporate this in your life too.
why do such threads even exist?? \........i dont believe in astrology..there was one very 'gyani' astrologer who predicted that ill be doing engineering.....but i landed up studying medical science.
in 2012 one astrologer predicted that my uncle(he was 24 yrs old at that time) would be having a very happy married life. But in december two months before his marriage he died in a car accident.
All these beliefs stem from the single most destructive human trait called "EGO". We feel ashamed to accept that we don't know something. Hence we created God and also we have created a pattern of predicting called astrology. Sometimes, that pattern may be right according to many factors operating around us. But those patterns exist only until everything exists in the same way.
When has this pattern of planets for Govt. Job evolved? Only since the kings came into existence. What about the early man? If knowing something from the future is the whole purpose, then think about this- If you go to any astrologer and know something that is going to happen in the future and you want to avoid it you won't really do it. Suppose he tells you that you will be an IPS officer but will get killed in an attack, you won't even write cse. Then you won't join police and won't get killed, hence if you don't die, this (your change of mind and further life) should have been predicted as your future instead of death. Or he should say that "It is written here that on this day you will come to me and change your mind". These are absolutely contradicting claims. This is purely like AI, recognising patterns and improving upon them.

I am one of those who has recently changed opinion about astrology when a person predicted things so accurate about my past since birth to recent times that I was was shocked beyond words. It made me wonder about how much we have in our hands. I was definitely one of those who read horoscopes in newspapers only for entertainment purposes. It made me wonder about how actually did astrology evolve at all? And how many years did it take for them to make rules and calculations on all this. For it is not something that someone just makes guesses. You have got to tell the exact time, place of birth etc. And Indian astrology is ancient. How did the people at that time calculate the positions of the planets as far as Saturn etc without the modern instruments? And then determine what effect each planet has? It also made me think that if perhaps someone knew the time of their birth to seconds and exact place of birth, does it mean that according to calculations, a good astrologer will be able to predict the complete path that his/her life will take? Also, I think according to the examples above, it matters how good an astrologer is. For eg, sometimes we call a plumber at home to treat some issue and he gives a solution which does not work, does that mean that plumbing itself is useless? I know it sounds preposterous comparing both these things. But both of them are sciences in a way. Its not random. A person has to be good in his field too right? And doesnt anyone wonder that why is astrology true at all? I mean even if 10% true, why? How do positions of planets affect our lives? And if they do, is there any such thing as free will or are we just puppets in the Universe?
A famous pandit in delhi..( he charges good amount ) said in my first attempt that I WL clear exam that year... Now this WL be my 6th attempt... I never believed in kundali but maa baap le jatey hn zabardasti.. But after that they never took me ..haha.. Believe in work and little bit luck but no kundali interpretation by a someone.. Coz those who can really read future will never sell their work.. Yes such ppl exist but such ppl will always keep ur future a secret from u...

Just my opinion. Nothing against anyone here.
