Anthropology 2013 paper discussion!!!

edited December 2013 in Anthropology
How was it guys??? I personally feel paper 2 was a bit tough when compared to the previous papers!!! Paper 2 is too generic and might affect scoring.

  • @vrteja , please upload the paper.
  • @vrteja That's exactly my analysis! Paper 2 felt more like a GS paper apart from 2-3 anthro-specific questions. Paper 1 was relatively easier and there weren't any googlies unlike last year.
  • @vrteja @spirate : Can you upload the paper please?
  • I could not write paper 1 properly. was not able to revise physical and it was all physical...me screwed.wrote on my own, all definitions.paper 2 was ok type..
  • @spirate @Sherry , can you please give some insights on how to approach anthropology?
  • @aspirantbloggers If you want a feel for the subject, browse through Ember and Ember. It touches both physical and socio-cultural anthro, and has illustrations so you won't be bored! If you have already decided on Anthropology, buy Braintree notes and cover each aspect of the syllabus thoroughly. Once you've mastered the 3 Braintree books, you can go for more specific ones like P Nath for Physical Anthropology and Muniratnam's notes for Socio-cultural anthro.
  • @spirate , thanks. this time around no questions on primates asked , the paper1 was unusual compared to previous ones. how did you do paper1? took any coaching or test series?
  • @aspirantbloggers I thought my paper 1 went well, only marks will tell. I would say the pattern was more or less comparable to previous years. Didn't they ask a question on the role of Primatology in Anthropology?

I took test series at Target and went for a few Phys Anthro classes at Laxmaiah's IAS Institute.
  • @aspirantbloggers : I would rather recommend standard books like Nadeem Hasnain for paper 2. I did read braintree paper 2 book from cover to cover but didnt find it completely useful though it helped me answering about 170 marks.

@spirate : no offence dude, i have just put my views across!!! some chapters r very elaborate in paper 2 in kartics notes which can be skipped..
