Nationalism is a concept, that cannot be imposed on anybody. For every reaction there's an opposite and equal reaction. There are cons to imposed nationalism, and quite a lot of them. Somehow, this overdose of nationalism is a problem. There are 50000 shades of grey in all of us, most of us aren't brave enough to accept it.

I think shah faesal is classic case of cognitive dissonance. While his job profile and all his education pushes him towards loyalty to the govt of India But his kashmiri Muslim background and sympathy towards their cause forces him to revolt.
That cognitive dissonance results into such comments /posts, in short venting his frustration.
Also dissatisfaction with the job because of various restrictions involved due to working in a conflict zone, adds to the frustration. And main problem causing such restrictions is way beyond his control. So can't change it either.
Pseudo nationalism is a mental disorder. The nationalists of our day have failed to move beyond a communal syllabus, while humanism and nationalism don't even need it. We don't have nationals, we have crusaders.

i dont agree with ur analysis. with due respect. you are taking a recent incident of bureaucratic malpractice entirely into the philosophical realm. ofcourse nothing is black and white. in that way we can get to no conclusion about anything at all. but the shade is darker for shah faesal. drawing the line is essential in society where we must abide by rules. he seems to think he levitates above us all. and for me personally it doesnt have to do merely with this tweet, but his history of tweets/posts.

He was immature, cynical and seemed desperate-qualities that shouldn't affect a civil servant. His work requirement was that of a problem solver- irrespective of their magnitude and not a ranter within the confines of a Harvard room. Didn't he know that he was signing up for this very 'Rapistan' civil services when he appeared for the exams? And what is this nonsensical act of bringing the entire South Asia within the comment. What gives him the right and privilege to speak about other countries. Is he speaking for Bhutan-among the happiest countries in the world? Is he speaking for Srilanka which has a greater HDI than India? He should understand the ramifications his statement as a government official has vis-a-vis India's foreign relations. His motives/goodness/badness are immaterial and indeterminable factors.
