  • Dear members, i am from geology background (this year cleared NET with air 13 rank) and want to take geology and geography optionals. I did my master in applied geology and studied geography upto the second year of graduation. I am already in job so difficult to start a new subject so would you please suggest me please for getting good score will it be good to have geography? I also need to know the good books for geography comprehensively. Can any one please guide me about the specific books for ias mains in the way as one of our senior member posted Gigantic GS part-1 & 2. I am a beginner and will take CSAT-13. I will be highly grateful to all. Thanks
  • @zameen You have a compelling reason to take up those two optionals. Nothing wrong with it. Go ahead.

I would recommend going with the class notes of Neetu Singh + Alok Ranjan from Delhi. You can also supplement them with Vajiram's Shabeer Sir's notes , for the topics missed out by other two teachers.

You don't have much time right now as you must begin Prelims preparation at least from January, if you have no experience of Prelims exam.

Once you have mastered the notes (And they are in good handwriting plus easy to read like from books), you may look for adding to your knowledge by reading books.

But then that is my opinion. Also ask the opinion of others.
  • I am thankful for your suggestion dear Neyawn. Would you please tell how to obtain this Neetu Singh+ Alok Ranjan and Vajiram's Shabeer Sir's notes? Since I am in Visakhapatnam so how can i get the notes? any fee/zerox centre/any source on net or any contact person for obtaining that?
    Thanks
  • Does it has any significance to mention the good studies optional first or second? Suppose I have A and B optionals. I studied B in my master and taking it as one of the optional so if I give A as first optional in main so will it carry any meaning or irrespective of any preference I can fill up any optional as first or second?
