  • Thank you, @Neanderthal. I'm asking this because, I know an ips ( cse 2010), her name is again in the list (2012) for iis. So got confused.
No worries. That's quite a legit query.
bro then last rank for IRS was 522 in 2012....u mean it moved more later on?
  • Are more and more people opting for customs and central excise over income tax?

No dude. 522 would be the last rank after the vacancies would have been filled. Initially, it might have closed at a higher rank. In general, the movement usually takes place more after rank 250 odd.
This is what has been happening pretty much for a long, long time now.

  • What happens when a person already in service gets not so better rank this time and hence decides not to take up service offered this year, what happens to such posts, do they get filed by next rankers.
This will be done before final allocation posted on persmin website?
@Tejaswi Usualy person who are already in preferred service donot mention other less preferred service in there daf so they are not considered for any other service... May be later on they are allotted the service left from reserve list...

  • Are more and more people opting for customs and central excise over income tax?
@ no doubt irs it is prefered service as compared to customs but service preferences are changing a lot these days...
  • @Mirza I too thought the same, but as I told I know a ips officer in service who was allocated iis in her next attempt as per the persmin website..

I know someone who joined the C&E service in his first attempt and was allocated IPS in his second. He turned down the offer and stuck with C&E.
  • So his name is not in the list? @Neanderthal
The lady I'm talking about has also stuck to her earlier service, ips. But my doubt is, because she did not join the service, rankers next to her will move up? If that is the case the ' final' allocation list we see in persmin is not final and there will be movement later?

@Tejaswi Few days i talked to a ips trainee on this topic and he said that if the concerned candidate gives in written that one no longer wants to join service after allocation than only next candidate will get a upgrade otherwise that vacant post gets transferred to next cse..
